Actually, I've personally fitted the original zalman flower cooler to an NF7-S, in an Antec sonic case. Won't have nearly the cooling of the thermaltake SP97 though.

Could ask when they'll likely get em in or order elsewhere.

In 1700rpm mode, the 92mm fan on it is immensely quiet.

Looked elsewhere and found this site do the Thermalright SLK-947U for around ?30, excluding a fan ofcourse. But then this begs the questions: The XP-M 2500 costs ?67 plus ?30 for the heatsink and then a few quid for the fan, we are talking ?100 here. For a wee bit more you can get a brand new retail XP3000. Saying that however, you can supposdly clock the XP-M to above the XP3200. Will the Asaka fans and heatsinks do just as good a job as the thermalright? Saying that Thermalright is meant to be the pimp of pimps It can take fans upto 92mm, and recommendations which size I should go for to maintain a quiet yet efficant cooling regime? Also, which brand would be best suited to cpu cooling?

Thats everything ordered. I found the heatsink and fan selection at Ebuyer pretty limited. Going to order the XP-M 2500 from www.overclockers.co.uk and try to decide on an affordable and efficant cooler. The Thermalright sp97 fits without a neo back plate, but I don't know if I really need such a top end cooler. The Zalman round ones (not flowers) are nice and quiet, but according to the website none fit the NF7-S Version 2.0. Any final recommendations from people with a similar setup? Bear in mind that I want to take the CPU upto XP3200 area.

Another change of plans! I have got some extra money so I am now going for the Athlon64 3000+ with a nice akasa cooler, don't need to overclock it that much, along with a decent motherboard. Anyone used a Abit KV8? The KV8-Pro and KV8-Max 3 don't seem to offer a great deal more.

One thing I will say about Abit boards is the chipset cooling fans are complete ****e. I've had two AN7s and the chipset fan on each now makes a massive racket. I'll get some lube on 'em this week and have some Zalman heatsinks for the chipsets anyway but I've heard others complaining about this as well.

yeah, also read that MSI do the best Socket 754 board, the K8 Neo Platinum. Not heard much about that company though. However from what I have seen, Athlon64's are not that clockable

                  Hi Wazy15
I work for a UK computer manufacturer who is the largest UK customer of MSI and i can say hand on heart that most of their boards are ****e and i would not touch one with a barge pole but the Neo range is about the best they produce.

k8n neo platinum is definitly one of the better 754 boards, and amd64's are clockable, my 3000+ does 4000+ speeds (albeit with water cooling)

Thought rep's is up to 4000+ with heavy air cooling?

Bit late on the advice there Satman, Wazy bought that PC months ago.
