    PS2 SF3 3rd Strike+SF Anniversary Coll. Q's

I'm considering picking PS2 3rd Strike up although I already have the DC version. Has anyone been able to find a comparison between the PS2 and DC versions?

Also, it appears that there is a Korean Street Fighter Anniversary Collection released for ?25ish:

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for PlayStation 2Language: English/JapaneseManual: KoreanIncludes Street Fighter Anniversay Edition + Street Fighter III: 3rd Striker on 1 disc.

As I understand it there should be Hyper SF2 and 3rd Strike on the same disc. Will these be the same as the Japanese versions? just rolled into one package and cheaper?

Details on the varying differences in gameplay are detailed HERE.

    Choice cuts:
so far, its hard for me to test cuz i cant do crap on a pad. but cosmetically, the music actually mixes preperly on the stages instead of pausing and loading up the next track like it does on dc. the game looks cleaner. and controls seem more responsive. the hit sound effects seem to be a little different. not bad or anything.

    --------------------------------------

okay just did some testing with block training(thanks james and tragic) and i tried unblockables with old and new guard, i could not break on new at all, but i could break on old everytime. so there you have, now throw away your dc version

    --------------------------------------

the hit confirm"links" i cant really comment on. i havent sven seen an arcade 3s in a year so i dont even know what the timing is anymore. but i do know this. i loaded up the ps2 and dc version at the same time. and i was doing kens c.strong xx sa3 super, and i COULD delay the super longer than dc and still combo, but i dunno if its still arcade accurate. i need fubarduck or someone that can actually test hit confirm properties.

i tried all urien unblockables i can think of and all work, i just tried oros as well and it works like a charm.

i dunno about yuns genei jin ground combo startup timing yet. im on a pad and i suck with em so genei jin is out of the question atm

    ---------------------------------------

There are 2 options for Original Arcade that basically plays like the Arcade ie, Urien-Oro unblockables, Timing of Genei Jin are still intact. I think in the Arranged Version there are minor tweak most pertaining to the unblockables.

    ---------------------------------------

Finally got my copy, it's great

    Things I've tested
    - All unblockables work (Oro, Urien at least)
    - Yun SA3 is just like arcade (people fall slower, palms do more damage)
    - Dudley's multi MGB combo's work with no problems

    - I don't really play Ken or Chun but Ken seems to have about 5 minutes after connecting a low strong to go into super so they seem arcade perfect too

Only real thing that doesn't seem arcade perfect is the sound. Seems a little grainy or something

Anybody wants anything tested let me know

    ----------------------------------------

ive ben playing third strike arcade for some 5 years now, and im telling u the ps2 version has arcade perfect sound effects, after the AWFUL dreamcast sound effects, what was with the f*cking aeroplane noise when u KO's someone on the DC or the sxcessive echoing when uve done shun goku satsu? ive been wishin for away to get rid o f the DC sounds and it has been realised, trust me, it may sound odd, but those are teh arcade sounds, and IMO they sound so much better, MEATY punches and kicks, not so much bland white noisy echoy stuff like the DC

its a great port, arcade sound, arcade music, unblockabables, the game FEELS more like the arcade with timings and such

    im VERY happy

now i just gotta wait for my hori real arcade pro!!!!

    ---------------------------------------------

Tested it for a few hours.

As someone mentioned Yun is pretty much his arcade self now. Dive kicks are faster than DC, Genei Jin damage seems back to normal -palms do more damage than fierces, less scaling after command throw, etc. He's much better than on DC.

Chun-Li's low forward SA2 is easier to do than on DC. All the hit-confirms seem easier. Some normals "feel" different, dunno if they tweaked some hitboxes or if it's because the sprites are bigger. There doesn't seem to be any input lag.

It's a way better port than DC, but I'm not entirely sure it's 100% arcade perfect. Still feels a little fast and I'm not positive the sprites are as large as arcade yet.

    -------------------------------------------

yea...the general speed seems a slight bit faster

and I think that you have not a whole lot of time to link chun's low forward, but you get all the time in the world to link dudley's f+forward

but since a lot of people are saying it's fine, oh well

dudley's combos seem to be easier (someone told me that they were harder on DC)
ie. 4 jab mgb on ken, then short short swing blow into super

hmm...not sure about hitboxes, seems like hugo's lacking some on his body splat crossup, I'll have to ask around again
but you get more walking time with charge partitioned 720 (only slightly tho, not really noticable?)
In a gameplay sense, then the PS2 version is the one to go for, since it's more faithful to the arcade version than the Dreamcast version was.

More bluntly, the unblockables are back for Urien & Oro, Yun is back to his arcade self, and a few regular combos that were possible on the arcade/ PS2 weren't on the DC.

Is it scan doubled? A lot of these 2d game releases of recent (PS2, GC or XBOX) have been lined doubled and it looks bad IMO.
