    Japanese N64 tab removal

Just found my old copy of US Goldeneye under the seat of my clapped out camper van.

I have a Japanese N64 knocking about and seem to remember that all it takes to make it play US games is the removal of the plastic tabs by the cartridge slot.

Any advice for a slick removal?

Saurian did mine, and it seemed to be just a question of lifting the lid off the machine and cutting away the large plastic blocks(tabs).

Large plastic blocks? I seem to remember something like that lurking at the edges inside the cartridge port.

I was thinking there were just different shaped openings to the outside of the slot.

You take the lid off the N64, and there is a removeable dust shield over where you put the cartridge through. Take this off and try putting the cart into it. You will soon see which bits need removing. Some people melt them with a soldering iron. I went with a stanley knife and a lot of patience.

It took me 10 minutes to do mine with a soldering iron.

It was really easy, just dont get too carried away and melt of more than you need.
