    Dreamcast RGB problem

I have a Japanese Dreamcast, and a Competition Pro RGB scart cable, but the picture is still in black and white.

    Anyone know why?

Possibly the Scart cable isn't actually outputting RGB, it's doing composite?

A lot of these RGB cables sold in the UK are not wired correctly. Just recently I got a load of Joytech ones which had 1.5v wired to the ground pin of the SCART connector and no voltage to pin 8 or 16 - so even tho it was wired for RGB it would never give an image.

My Dreamcast does not output a composite video signal when an RGB cable is plugged in - you only get composite sync. I suggest that cable isnt an RGB at all - the ones www.videogameimports.com sell are.

it's worth making sure that the connection into the dreamcast is plugged in firmly as if its not it won't switch to RGB and just show composite..

I got an official Dreamcast RGB scart cable off eBay the other day and when plugged in it outputs sound on one TV with a black screen and works perfectly on another and of course the TV it doesnt work on is the one I use all the time. Very odd.
