    [DC] GigaWings problem

Hi all, I'm Gabbi (male) from Italy. Just subscribed

I have a problem with GigaWings game (USA) that won't run on a chipped Jap Dreamcast.

My Dreamcast is chipped with Lik-Sang modchip and runs all other games I own (Jap, USA and PAL). Some PAL games shows some display imperfection (as shifting image about 4/5 down) so I'm aware about these problems.
I'm also aware about the fact that GigaWings is one of Capcom's games to not support RGB.

But the problem isn't about display: the game simply don't start. I get the DC logo animation looping over and over again.

I've tried to load game from menu insted inserting it on off console, I've tried to use a bootCD, but nothing seems to work.

    Any suggestion?

What type of video cable do you currently have plugged in while trying to boot?

I used to boot my copy of Gigawing (b4 I got an RGB hack) with a Utopia boot disk and standard composite AV cable.

Yeah had a similar problem with another USA game on Jap DC - it worked fine on PAL DC tho!?... full screen and everything - you could perhaps try DC-X to boot the game - that works very well with most if not all import titles?

I have DC connected to TV with RGB SCART (but I think isn't a display problem...)
The BootCD I've used are GameShark and Utopia

        I'll try the composite cable...
if I plug the RGB cable in a non-RGB SCART is the same result?

        ...thnx all want help!

          That's why it wont work.

if I plug the RGB cable in a non-RGB SCART is the same result?
          Same result -

The RGB cable switches the Dreamcast over to RGB mode - that's why it wont boot with the cable plugged in, use your composite cable till you get a hack. The Dreamcast does not output composite video when you have an RGB cable plugged in - it outputs composite sync.

No problem - an S-Video cable will also work, it's not perfect but it's a little better than composite.

I think I'll get a s-video cable. It's cheaper than purchasing the game again, and maybe will be useful in future for other non-RGB games.

                  Anyway, thanks for infos

Good stuff! btw, i can only play the jpn version of SF Alpha 3 via composite cable too, - doesnt work with proper scarts, quite annoying, but its ok i prefer SF3 Third strike than SFA3 - plus i got that on PS1, rinsed it drys!

I think there was a re-release of SF Alpha 3 which supported RGB

                        Matching service version?

all second hand info though, so I could be wrong

No your right. There is a matching service version which runs through rgb.
