Mine looks like that too with 9800 Pro.

Looks amazing too, especially indoor areas with rust on the wall!

That article basically just confirmed that I won't need a big upgrade if I'm wanting to play. I can't stand all this graphical L33tism. There was one part of the article that really annoyed me. Something about 640X480 not being a good gameplay experience. **** off.

On a monitor it isn't. Scanlines are bigger than me at that res.

Is there much between my Radeon 9700 Pro and the 9800?

EDIT: Finished reading the article and they seem genuinely amazed that Doom 3 runs well on a minimum specification PC.

The 9800Pro is stunning for the money it costs, but as much as they don't mention the GF2Ti in the writeup, my experience with a GF2 Ultra shows that they can comfortably cope with just about anything that a Mx440 runs, usually better. Personally, I've got a Ti4200 now and it looks like Low quality is actually rather wonderful.

You need to up your special effects setting. You only get wildlife when you hit High or above.

For some reason it the Far Cry config utility had locked everything on medium so no matter what you set it to in the config screen, everything was on medium setting.

Talk about playing half a bloody game

Everythings now on Very High but I still don't see fishies or birdies ??

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ CPU, 512MB Corsair RAM XMS DDR400, Radeon 9600 XT 128MB

                            Best Playable IQ Settings
                            Resolution: 800x600
                            Texture Quality: Medium Quality

That was the best comparison I could find, you might have to go lower though, I am not to sure how much better the XT is than the pro. *edited out mistake* Best to wait and see now though.
