    (Stupid) Scart splitter question

    I have one of these.

If I buy another, could I link them through each other, as I've run out of scart sockets in just the one. Will there be a drop in picture quality, or will it not work at all?

    Not sure about that unit...

I've bought splitters that look like that one before and have suffered a loss in image quality. Use the one Argos sell and daisy chain that with a good quality SCART to SCART - if someone can vouch for the quality of the one on eBay go for it and use the same meth.

Any splitter I've had with an inbuilt OUT Scart lead has suffered bad image quality loss with my setup. I only run the 3 socket Argus ones with separate gold plated Scart to Scart leads. No loss at all

Didn't someone mention never buy those ones on ebay because they suffer signal loss? Is it even RGB? GAME are flogging some Joytech ones at teh moment on the cheap btw. Still not nearly as cheap as the 3 port argos ones. Buy 2 of those argos ones and link them together. Actually, if you already have 5 ports, then 2 argos ones daisy chained will still only give you 5 ports. Get 3! Camps/John does this and swears by it.

ALL scart splitters suffer signal loss.

I need an RGB scart splitter myself but fear the loss in picture quality will be too great.

I'm extremely anal about cabling, so much so that I have around ?3000 of cabling intergrated into my hi-fi system and a ?100 scart lead for my Sky digibox.

So realistically speaking how great a loss is it in percentage terms?

Buy one of the Argos ones and give it a go.

Worst case scenario you can take it back under their 16 Day No Quibble Returns offer, but i think you'll be more than satisfied.

Even if their is a tiny amount of signal loss (of which i can't see any) then its got to be better than messing about around the back of your TV everytime you need to switch leads.

Yeah - that's the bit that's pissing me off.

Not only is it a pain in the arse, but you will find repeated unplugging and plugging in will damages the contacts, so much, after a while, that you will get a worse picture than the slight loss in the argos one (and I mean slight as long as you use a good lead because although people do change the cabling for better sound/picture, the cable on the inside of your TV/Speaker are almost always ****)

I use a scart extension cable. By doing that I get the absolute MINIMUM of signal loss, and I can change scart plugs in front of my TV.

You don't by any chance have a link for this extension cable do you?

I've not seen it but imagine it's pretty good as Monster make fine gear.

Unfortunately however I've buycotted all American products so couldn't possibly buy one unless it was second-hand.

Get a bloody grip man ! it's quotes like this that confuse people, a quote like "some" scart splitters suffer from signal loss/degredation would be better suited.

I play most of my games on a 42 inch plasma screen and can say without any hesitation that via RGB through the splitter connected by a IXOS RGB scart cable a US Snes and a modded Dreamcast via my humble set of eye's suffer absolutely Zero loss in picture quality.

I am also very anal about cabling, if it even remotely degraded the image i wouldn't use it( i don't use it anymore though as i don't need to) using a 42 inch screen you tend to notice things like picture degredation a bit more. The Argos splitter is an absolutely legendary piece of kit and should be worshiped by everyone who has multiple consoles connected via RGB and only 1 RGB enabled scart input.

I now use the DC via VGA though and that is a sight to behold (truely beautiful image) does anybody know if you can get a VGA splitter
