Memory, CPU and Graphics Cards questions

Ok, all this talk of Doom 3 has started me wondering about system specs and and I have some questions which I know you computer boffins will be able to answer.

    1) How do I know what memory I have in my computer ? Is there an easy way to tell if its DDR400 ?

    2) Whats the deal with Athlon 64 bit processors ? Whenever I look at specs for one, it never gives a speed rating comparative to `other` processors in terms of Htz. Can some explain how to tell which processor is faster than another - other than by checking the price ?

    3) The new Radeon cards. Are they a worthwhile investment if you're running a processor lower than something like an Athlon 3200+. I read somewhere than anything lower will just cause a bottleneck ?

    1) go into the bios and it should tell you the front side bus speed it'll be either 333 or 400 on most motherboards it does.

2)well at the moment the 64s range 2ghz to about 2.6ghz

      1) Download WCPUID to check your system details http://www.svrops.com/svrops/downloa...es/wcpu330.exe

      2) Have you heard of google, if you type in the processor followed by Mhz it should tell
you the Mhz speed somewhere. Like so...

      # AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2000 MHz), Socket 754
      # AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2200 MHz), Socket 754
      # AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 (2200 MHz), Socket 940

3 ) Bottlenecks are mostly caused by overall system bandwidth and timing.
You can increase system bandwidth by using higher Mhz rated RAM that runs
at low timings like CAS2 in a dual channel configuration.
