XBox High Definition AV Pack & DC Vga cable

Can anyone tell me is it worth buying the official xbox av pack over the cheap 3rd party cables? The Scart cable wasnt worth buying over the cheap ones as the RGB output on the xbox is quite weak

If so wheres the best/cheapest place to get one (prefferably UK for time reasons).

    EDIT :

Also is it worth getting a DC VGA cable to use on a plasma/lcd or just stay with rgb?

    Im guessing stay with rgb?

Play Asia, it's like under ?20. And postage doesn't take long.

That's where I got mine from. Looks lovely in Pro Scan.

Btw, how much was your Hitachi?

Yea i thought PA was probably the best, just the delivery time can sometimes be a couple of weeks.

the TV didnt cost me anything, my TV saga has been going on since 99. Swapping adding a little cash here and there between TV's

doh thats a slight lie it cost me ?33.40 for delivery. They wanted something like ?70 to start with.

God knows why it taken me this long to get a AV pack, its my 3rd high def TV.

its the same price in currys. ?1999.

If i work it all out it would roughly work out that it cost me around ?1800/?1900 all in all. including extended warranty( i dont normally see extended warranty periods for long though before the TV's die )

This is mostly because of discounts ive had because of the crap service. Which 2bh isnt that bad. i got ?300 off my Tosh 36ZD26 when i first had it, and then theres been discount vouchers, and undercharging etc.

But this doesnt take into account things like when i could get the LCD cheaper on the net by ?150ish

Although its been arse, i do get to have a new TV quite often lol

Yep thats the problem, although i can find the TV's cheaper elsewhere, theres no point buying one when ive got 2k+ of currys credit .

The daft thing is i brought my original TV from Tempo, through a mate who worked there (staff discount) they went bust and currys picked it up.

Otherwise i wouldnt go near currys

Will it make any difference on a plasma though? i can understand it will look better on a monitor than a TV, but would it make a difference on a plasma, where i can use scart or vga?

Yes, it's progressive scan at 640x480. The dreamcast had proper vga support out of the box.... It will look far better than the lower resolution and interlaced rgb signal.

Being a 42 inch Hitachi plasma owner myself all i can say is the DC via VGA is jawdroppingly good, i have the Blaze VGA box and it's stunning however not all games support VGA but the majority do.
Games like Ikaruga, Daytona, Ferrari, Soul Calibur, Zero Gunner (the list is endless) all look beautiful on a 42 inch display via VGA, pure gaming bliss

I gave in and brought the VGA adapter, going to hold off on the Xbox av pack, as ive only got 2 xbox games atm, it doesnt seem worthwhile
