    Surround Sound Headphones

All this talk of Doom3 and Halflife 2 makes me want to use the 5.1 capabilities of my PC, but I'm not splashing out on a speaker setup.

Has anyone got any experience of Surround Sound Headphones?

alot of the guys at avforums rave about those. I've got a pair of sennheisers that I use in DolbyHeadphone mode and its not bad.

Yes, but not everyone has the room to be able to place 6 speakers around their PC!

I've got the same problem... I can't place that many speakers around my PC setup...
So, I recently opted to buy a new headphone, namely: http://www.trust.com/products/product.htm?artnr=13960

It gets the job done, sound is really good... the surround effect is good, although I do prefer a "real" 5.1 (or 6.1 or whatever) setup.
My opinion: If you can't go surround, these kind of headphones are a good alternative.

BTW, my Trust Headphone has a this "thingamob" which allows me to select the headpones or my 2.1 speakers. That's pretty neat too

These: http://www.gainward.com/html/product.../51Hwadset.htm just got quite a good review in Custom PC. I've ordered a pair from Komplett (http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=300438&cks=PRL) but they're not here yet. Should be good for Doom 3; I've a 5.1 setupconnected to the consoles and a 2.1 to the PC in the same room, so I can't have any more speakers...

At the moment I'm saving up for the Medusa 5.1 for ?40 at Play.com. I've heard good things about 'em.

Need headphones so I can play whilst my gf is sleeping upstairs. Otherwise I'd be putting the 5.1 through my amp.

                Thanks for the suggestions though!

After reading this thread I ordered the Medusa's from Play and they arrived today.

They really are pretty great and worth the money.

Cracking sound quality and Doom 3 is really impressive - its sure to add to the immersion ( and my scared-o-meter )

They were a bit of a bugger to set up but if you're an audiophile it'll be second nature - and if I can do it then anyone can.

They're also deal for me cos I need headphones for PC gaming as my rig is so noisy.

                    Heartily recommended to everyone
