    ADSL distance boost

W'hay news we've all been waiting for, well me anyway.

    http://www.adslguide.org.uk/newsarchive.asp?item=1787
The availability of the 1Mbps ADSL services is set to increase dramatically, with the limit rising from 41dB to 60dB. This should mean that almost everyone who has a 0.5Mbps now, will be able to get the 1Mbps service. The 2Mbps service will currently remain at its loss limit of 41dB.
This also means people who cannot currently get .5mb Adsl should be able to.

I got all excited when I saw this topic, thinking ADSL was going to go through the same type of this as blue yonder did with speed increases for all.

However for people who can't get 1mb and can't get 0.5mb now, it is good news.

Just be wary that you might get more bandwidth but it will have more latency, its the trade off on this issue.

At last. Looks like it might take a while for the online checkers to get up to speed though.

Sorry for being thick, what does that mean?. Slower downloads despite the increase in speed or something?

Typically, in DSL, latency refers to the delay in time between the sending of a unit of data at the originating end of a connection and the reception of that unit at the destination end.

Ie maybe more pauses during online gaming.
