New Zealand Story - only on win95 OS?! nooooo!

I love this game ever since my brother discovered it back in the arcade days round these parts........

but I can only find mention of it for windows 95, and as yet haven't found any console ports ( did have the Spectrum +3 version ) either,

is it out for any later windows OSs? how about consoles - hope that's not so off-topic this gets moved.

It came out on Megadrive and PC Engine back in the early 90s.

One of the versions differed from the Arcade version, I think it was the PC Engine one (someone will correct me I'm sure)

I had it on the Amiga back in it's hayday - good game, but not a patch on Rainbow Islands IMO.

The Amiga was probably the best apart from the arcade release; have you considered playing either of those two under emulation?

The MD version is the one that's significantly different to the original arcade. It also came out on Master System, NES and lots of other systems. Lots of info here:

One of my most favourite games ever. I still play it every now and then

I played it on my Amstead CPC 6128. It was alright.

Take it Win95 Compatability Mode won't work then?

Remember, it was released before Windows 98 was out, so obviously it won't have a mention of later OS's.

Just find the rom and use Mame or get one of those magic Yod@'s xbox as it will have the rom on it.

                  thanks!

i have to ask - what is a magic Yod@ x-box? someone with the handle Yod@ has x-boxes that run roms? what roms, mame ones or other console ones ( are they the same emu's that PCs run)? (if that's what you meant)

i found that the +3 version is still here, so I'll have to try it out again.

Yod@ magic box is a chipped xbox with load of emulators, roms, and freedom to play import stuff and change screen mode and region of hardware, but be careful when you go on live.

If you really want to play new zeland story the best solution is to get a emulator for the PC called Raine.

Raine emulator specializes in playing all taito arcade games including new zeland story. It runs them extremely well, heres the link to the Raine site

that sounds great - specialises in Taito games.

i've yet to get an emu. purely because i ain't got around to buying a stick for my consoles yet, and i sure as hell am not about to use this keyboard to play games in a serious-ish way on my PC!

                          thanks for the link.
