    DVD Burner Questions

I want to get a DVD burner asap really and Id like it to be external as Ill be going off to Uni and Ill probably be getting a laptop so external would be best. There seems to be hundreds of different burners I can get so I really have absolutely no idea which one to get.

Firewire / USB2.0 would be cool and id like it to be quite fast. Who wouldnt?

    Dont mind spending about ?80-?100

Im not a very technical person so just something that does the job and no faff. Any ideas which one to go for as I dont? Amazon online are probably the quickest to get from?

EDIT - I was told that I should get a Dual Layered one. Are they all like that?

          I'm sure it's lovely if:

          a) You own a PC.

          3) You want to rip off a load of DVD movies.

          x) You don't think it would be fitting punishment for a company charging $150 to let you steal other people's intellectual property that you leech their software off P2P instead of buy it.

I don't meet any of the above criteria, so cannot advise.

            More appropriate in here.

And the reply above is so cynical it's a complete waste of space on the database. If you can't advise, wtf bother posting in a thread about DVD burner advice? What if Ginza was off to do a media course and needed a writer to burn the presentations? Troll away.

Go to eBuyer - look at the reivews of people who've bought them, take the reviews with the credit they deserve and take your pick.

Cheers for that MartyG. He was only being funny though, no harm done.

Iv been recommended to get a dual layered internal one and its half the price of a normal external one but the only problem is Ill possibly be getting a laptop which will then mean ill want to get an external dvd burner for that. Thats dependant on my results though :/

I know he was being ironic, still it was fairly pointless. Internal NEC drives are decent, regarded and cheap - so go for one of them.
