Stock HSF on Athlon 64

    Stock HSF on Athlon 64

    Hi,

    on Ebuyer I have noticed that the OEM Athlon 64 3000+ costs more than the retail version which comes with a HSF. However, on other sites, the OEM A64 3000+ is sold out and no one seems to be getting one soon. This means that I am left with the retail version and wondered if the stock A64 HSF is any good? Anyone with one care to post their idle and load tempreatures?

    Retail ones are sufficient, if not the coolest or quietest solutions. I'm quite sure they design it to afford the chip suitable cooling. It carries a 3 year warranty after all.

      Don't worry about the retail heat sink and fan if you want to run at stock.

      Ive heard nothing but good things about the 64's heatsink and fan.

      My retail 3400+ kit is running fine.
