    Audiolab hifi

Last weekend, I was round at a friend's house and he had some audiolab kit, pre/power amp hooked up to some Castle 7 speakers. It was too slow for banging dance music, but for slower stuff like Massive attack and Faithless, and jazz music, this setup blew me away. And this was using a fairly old Marantz CD63se. God knows what it would be like with an up to date CD player. Absolutely stunning. I now want to fork out for about ?10k of kit just to see what its like. It's probably the speakers that are not fast enough for my tastes, but bloody hell, the amp setup is amazing. Audiolab turned into TagMaclaren who put priceX10 on all the audiolab kit and put their name on it.

and improved it substantially also. Rumours that TAG audio are about to shutdown soon.

My mate's McLaren CD player and pre-amp are just utterly, utterly gorgeous. The difference between it and the Pioneer I took off his hands is clearly audible, even though both setups were going through the same (rather nice) Rotel power amp.
