    PS-2 faulty Power supply

I've got a PS-2 with what I think is a faulty power supply - is this a hard job to replace? Could it be a fuse?

    Could be three things:

    * Fuse. Easily replaced as long as its a 2 Amp slow-blow/time delay. Doesn't matter if the fuse is ceramic or glass. Anything else will blow the PSU unit itself as well as the fuse in your power cable.

    * PSU. If your PS2 is an early Japanese model (10000 / 15000) you can buy a new power supply pretty much any where on the net. If it the first gen European / US model (30001 or 30003 with 10 squares at the base of the ps2) then you'll have a hard time finding replacement PSUs. Anything above that you can get PS2 easily.

*Eject/power button Ribbon cable. It could be that the ribbon cable isn't connected properly, in which case put it back into the slot. Otherwise, you'll need to get a new one. Again, the net will have them.

In my experience, it's never the fuse that needs replacing. Its usually the PSU. It can be the ribbon cable, but only if it has been tampered with before.

If you have abosolutely no idea what I'm talking about, then you can send it to Game Focus for repairs. Its ?20 for a checkup and then minimal ?30 for a fix. PSU replacements are usually ?50+

    Hope this helps!

Ehhh, really? Because I had a blown PSU in a 10000 machine and couldn't find a matching power supply for love nor money - having searched EVERYWHERE! I did get one in the end, but I have no idea where it came from, a shop sourced it for me.
