    Doshin the Giant

I've only recently gotten round to playing this enchanting 'game'. It's quite intriguing and mysterious in many ways... the manual and ingame hints alude to various things that I've not been able to figure out and there seems to be a lack of extensive faqs for the game on the net.

Any info on the following would be appreciated.

    - Following a playing villager to find something special?

    - Rare items in boxes? I've only found people, hearts, skulls and trees.

    - Larger boxes?

    - You can pick up animals, fish, birds... but what can you do with them?

    - Sometimes buildings seem to get destroyed for no apparent reason... Particularly towards the end of my play on Barudo. Pausing and going to the monument museum then back out often seemed to result in the monument that'd just been built and the half the village around it being replaced with smoking ruins. It could be a means to limit the number of buildings so the game can cope. Or it could be a bug, it does seem rather erratic.

    - Human comments... Some are obvious, some rather odd... any insights would be interesting.

    - Having finished the Barudo island you get 3 more maps to play on. There appears to be space for another at the bottom of the list though...? Do you get anything for building the 16th monument on each of these new maps?

    - Any other secrets or tips?

Can't answer all of those questions, it's been a while since I sat through it.

    - Following a playing villager to find something special?

If they're really happy, you'll often see one wondering off only to stop at some point and make a scene... IIRC, an icon appears usually meaning there is a box buried underneath their position.

    - Rare items in boxes? I've only found people, hearts, skulls and trees.

I think that's about it... IIRC, there are some with people in too?

    - Larger boxes?

    Dunno...

    - You can pick up animals, fish, birds... but what can you do with them?

    Put them somewhere else

Yea, this is an odd one. If you piss off your folk, they'll often destroy stuff and rebuild it in "evil" form, if the population changes they may reconstruct it to reflects those changes (e.g. red/green item->red/green/yellow or whatever). Once you have a building, you don't need to keep it.

    Random babble, I guess

I think you can just build all the monuments on any maps, tbh.

    - Any other secrets or tips?

*spoiler* (although, reading your above question kind suggests you've done this...)
Did you get all the monuments? Doshin "dies" at the end and you get a new map with some alien folk on it (evolved forms of the normal people, many years later?) that blast off into space (if you do the map...). This unlocks a bunch of other maps too, including an Animal Leader themed map.

Thanks for the answers. I'll have to try keeping one of the villages happy and watch for the guy going for a wander. My villages have tended not to stay happy very long... stomping on people seems the easiest way to make trees.

Some stuff still puzzles me though... :/
'Try to interact with the animals and plants. They may give you enormous power. You never know.' says the manual.
Trees are obviously needed for villages, but animals I can't find any use for.

'The best items appear in bigger boxes.' - I think I've only seen the one size.

I can't find a quote for rare items now, I think whatshisface mentioned it in the game. Hearts, skulls, trees and islanders are listed in the boxes so surely don't constitute special rare items...?
