Initial D Special Stage - drift technique?

    Hi

Finally got this and a Logitech Driving Force Wheel - anybody give me some setup tips to make it a bit easier to control?

Also I am unsure about the technique on the game for cornering/drifting. Any hints or tips would be welcome!

Thanks for any help in advance!

    First off.

There's a battle system in this game that people miss, if you hit the rails while cornering you'll lose lots of speed - it's much safer to brake really hard to avoid hitting the sides rather than try forcing through it at speed if you screw up. Your car wont pick up speed naturally after you lose some by hitting the side of a corner - the way to get the speed back is to start drifting the car. Even really slight drifts on gentle corners kick the acceleration back in, the best way to do this is to VERY quickly gear down then up as you turn in and let the back end slowly slide out on it's own, then just tap the steering the get it back on the exit. Using this technique you can drift really slight corners nearly scraping the inner rail while picking up speed if you have lost some. Also - keep the revs really high at all times dont change up into 5th until the car is screaming.

To take big corners like the ones on the first and second course I take an outside line, steer hard into the inner rail, gear down + release accel, tap brake, gear up + accel back on (all done as a quick one-two) - Then turn hard so you're going sideways as close to the inner rail as possible and counter on the exit.

You can start the car drifting on the straight before you enter a corner using this technique + more braking (with accel on) to swing it round more, as you go round you can gear down-up again to swing it round further.

On Akina course and a few other places there are gutters on the inside of hairpins and other sharp turns, you can lock the wheels into the gutter so the car goes round the corner like it's on rails.

That's the sickest thing about the game - play it after watching the anime and you'll be like: This

                Good luck with it Brodie.....

tbh, saur has pointed most of the stuff out.. That i taught him

but where he mentions about hitting walls....even the slightest touch will do more harm than you realise.... where i'm time trialing on akina on these times i'm seeing it so vividly...

The brake drifting... which is done with the accel and brake together is insane when you can get it working.... to add a point to his original comment, when you do this you want to tap into the corner as you start it... the best time to start this is as you would normally start braking for a corner...

                to saur....technique stealing bitch

any chance we can capture some of my replays you reckon?
