Painting a PS 1

I've got an old PS 1 sitting around gathering dust, and although i don't really want to get rid of it, now that i'm not going to be relying on it, i want to customise it a bit.

So, has anyone got any experience in modifying a PS 1 purely for aesthetic reasons. I'm thinking of probably painting it a different colour, or something like that, but keeping it looking professional.

Any ideas? Paint types? things to watch out for?
