PS1 multitap on a PS2?

Yes.

And No.

The PS1 multitap works on the PS2 but only for PS1 games. To have more than 2 players on PS2 software you need a PS2 multitap.

Yes it's a pain isn't it?
I remember Sony saying that *all* PS1 peripherals would work on the PS2, what they didn't say at the time was they'd only work if you're playing PS1 games.

If memory serves, I've a feeling you can't use PS2 multitaps on PS1 games, either, for extra sales...

No it works. I have tried it.
