Opinions on this PS2 Hori Stick

The one I'm currently looking at buying is the "Hori Fighting Stick 2" for the PS2. Understand I'm only considering it because there is a much longer wait for the SC2 stick from Yesasia (7-14 days), and other than that there's no reason why I want this one.

Has anyone used one before then? Is it worth waiting a few more weeks (and paying a few quid less as it happens) and getting the SC2 model? I've never owned a stick before (other than that nasty Xbox official one), so I have no point of reference.

Here's a link to the stick:

Bud, I've never used that stick so can't comment on the quality, but if you can get an SC2 stick, do so - they're excellent in all respects. I use both the GC & PS2 versions & both are magic

I've just got the Hori SC2 stick (from Another World for ?30) and I find it hard to get used to (after myriad other sticks):

the stick itself feels "floppy" and I'm far worse with it than other cheaper/nastier sticks.

      Am I just naff?

Looser the better - it's not a gearstick

            why bother?

Glad someone brought sticks into it again, because that thread I was asking in was no help at all. 'fighting stick is for scrubs' - wtf?

I also want and need an arcade stick, I've used loads before, but that doesn't help in trying to second-guess what the current models are like!

What I want is info. on the following for the 3 main Hori sticks availible -

-do they make noises when they are moved / pressed ?

-are they loose or sticky in handling ?

            - what other features set them apart from one another / what is the difference with the different sticks ? do they all, for example, have the same responsiveness as one another ?

Now, in a normal reality I could just go down the shops and find all that out for myself. But I have absolutely no way under the sun or anything else to be able to test and try out such standard purchasing check-b4-u-buys.

What I have so far - SC is loose, and makes arcade click noises.

Fighting stick 2 is reprogrammable in terms of it's buttons.

Pro is da business, but I don't have a table / chair combo to put it on and it seems to me it'll be like having a really fat cat sitting on me, which will put me off playing.

What I want to know is mainly the diff. between the first two sticks, they weigh the same for shipping so there's only a few quid of a diff. in price. I'll go for the FS2 if it's quieter and doesn't click - all else being equal. As long as it performs the same as the SC. Then I won't need stickers and paint to cover up the SC graphics, which I don't like.

[Other than that, how dire is it that there isn't even one proper arcade stick released by Sony Europe that is on sale in a normal shop-based way?! wtf is going on there in their marketing dept?! Years ago even John Menzies would have a selection of arcade sticks for various computers and consoles.]

Another World still stock the Hori SC2 sticks: I got mine from there yesterday.

Might save you some pennies on shipping. I *think* they said they had another one in stock at their mail-order dept.

              Got it for ?30.

I've *warmed* to the SC2 since yesterday but I prefer my stick "nice and tight" sir. When my DC Arcade sticks started to go "floppy" I tightened them up. No floppiness tolerated in my abode.

                dilemnas, i h8 them

Something else to consider (btw, thanks 4 another world info.) - the Fighting Stick could be better IF programmable buttons = you can make whatever buttons on it the default buttons per game,

what I mean is - buttons look too close together for me, but if I can make the outermost (not analogue) buttons the ones to use for whatever games I load up, then I'll get that one.

This shouldn't be a stressful thing, it's supposed to be fun buying stuff like this. It's the lack of comparable stats. I find problematic.

It's only when one becomes obsessed that it leads to the death of "fun". Things become imperative and profoundly disappointing then.

Saying that I've gone to some stupid lengths to get hold of things (NTSC Tekki, pour example).

Well I'm not obsessive. Why did you choose to sour the nice way we were getting on there?

I think it should be standard that comparable attributes of comparable things should be easily availible. In this instance the lack of such info. is mostly due to my not being able to read Japanese, and not knowing anyone that can read it. But the bigger picture is that it's some kind of reverse-miracle that there aren't at least a small selection of aracde sticks availible in the UK for whatever consoles are still on retail, so my complaints and comments are definitely justified.

I agree with Killing_Floor. It is pretty stressful trying to find the right sitck, and I usually love spending money :P

It's just the complete lack of information available for any of them, and there just aren't any resources to find opinions on them. Also, none of them are available (properly) in England for a reasonable price, and there's no way to test them before you buy them.

I'm gonna try and get to Another World in Nottingham, but I'll probably be out of luck since that particular branch is moving somewhere and will have probably already sold off anything decent. Failing that, has anyone seen either of the sticks on sale in any UK online retailers?
