How do I get rid of this file

How do I get rid of this file...
    Azureus_2.1.0.4_Win32.setup

It's been on my desktop for a good few weeks and I can't delete it.

If I double clik on it I get the following...

If I right clik on it and go to properties it shows this...

All in all it's been there for weeks and I can't get rid of it.
I tried deleting the file in safe mode, shift+delete, find the file under regedit all to no avail...

Please help me, I'm at my wits end over this!

Nope. It won't let me do that.
      It won't move at all.

I remember quite clearly how I got the file...

I wanted to download the latest Azureus BT client and I thought I got it when I right-clicked on the link and saved it as 'save as' onto my desktop.

It later occured to me that I had to physically go inside the link to actually go onto another webpage to get the latest Azureus BT client program...

One option might be too boot into command prompt and delete it from there. Any boot disk should do.

Its always frustrating when you have files that it won't allow you to get rid of - it used to be far easier to get round but its just a pain now. It would be nice if there was some way of seeing what process was using the file as I'm pretty sure you'd want to kill it if you found it.

Could also try looking for services in Service manager. Might be some Azzureus one thats still holiding on to the file for some reason. Stop it and try again. Be careful though - I've messed around with services a lot in the past and had some strange results -not always good

I use this program to remove files: MoveOnBoot

Works a treat, and it's freeware!

Do you have admin rights on the machine? You may need to take ownership of the file or change the access permissions for it.....

Open command prompt in windows and set the location to where the file is:

              Prob

              "c:\documents and settings\<your username>\desktop>"

              Then Press Ctrl+Alt+ del

Shut down "explorer.exe" in the processes tab

The desktop icons and start bar should disappear but thats ok.

The command prompt should still be open and then type

              "del azureu~1.exe"

              Bye Bye file

              Press Ctrl+alt+del

              Do "File>Run new task"

              Type "explorer"

Windows should now be back. This way no boot disk and no installation of horrible shareware/freeware programs.
