    PASSPORt 3 N64 Converter?

    Hi there,
Has anyone had one of these and can anyone confirm if they are reliable.
Its just i can get US copies of rare PAL titles much cheaper and would prefer to pay ?10 for Conkers Bad Fur Day and the like rather than the ?40 prices in the UK.

Can anyone confirm if these cartridges work with all import games?
    Cheers
    Ross.

My experience with them was not good, I could not get the thing to boot my copy of Sin and Punishmant. They are not that user friendly (imo). Plus you can get a USA N64 for the same price as a Passport (if not cheaper), then just plug a PAL PSU into it and away you go.

Also you can mod the USA N64 to play Us and Jap games VERY easily.

I bought a cheap Passport II, only to find out it didn't work with Sin & Punishment (which was the reason I got it in the first place). So I had to get the Passport III, which works fine with S&P. The only other import game I have for N64 is Pilotwings (US), and that works too.

Typhoon: Are you using a code with your Passport? Otherwise S&P won't work.

I spent hours putting in every code under the sun and used every PAL game I own to boot from. It just would not work.

Passport 3 cost me ?25, USA N64 cost me ?22. I know which I would rather use.

Indeed, better off with a NTSC N64. Even if the Passport works, the games will be running slower than intended, and possibly with borders too.

            Cheers guys,
Im really after Paper Mario and Conkers bad fur day which are only bout ?20 each in the US.
Here you pay ridiculous amounts for the PAL copies.
Might check out Ebay see if i can get a cheap US control deck.
            Cheers
            Ross.

Has anyone used the passport to play either of the games mentioned above?

I`ve got a passport III that I`d give you but I`m fairly sure Paper Mario requires the III+

Check before you buy anything and let me know

Space monkey your a legend! Just had a look on the net though and can only find PASSPORT 3 alothough on its cartridge sticker it does say "PASSPORT PLUS 3".
Does your cart say that or is it just PASSPORT 3.
I really would appreciate taking it off your hands if you no longer want it mate?
                Cheers

Only sensible option is do what I did and flog all the PAL stuff, buy a US N64, RGB mod it, mod it to play jap games and then buy all the games I wanted again. It's been nice playing through Pilotwings et al from the beginning again.

On the cartridge it actually only says N64 Passport, but its definately a version III, I remember as I already had the first version and had to buy this one to play some game or other. If I can be arsed going up to the loft I`ll dig out the N64 and double check later tonight....

.....Ok, sorry about this but I`ve checked and the one I have here is V2.0, I must have bought all 3 versions of that thing and already given the other 2 away. If you want it, its here.

The passport plus 3 is a brilliant converter. I use a slight variation on the inbuilt command and conquer boot code which has played every US import I've thrown at it so far, e.g., indiana jones, polaris snowcross, harvest moon, razor freestyle scooter, spiderman, powerpuff girls, ogre battles, racing exotica, wheel of fortune, stunt racer (awesome game!), etc. The odd game doesn't need the boot code and will simply boot via the start game menu, e.g., hey you pikachu and nightmare creatures. DON'T waste your time with an earlier version of the passport as you will have problems. It will not play some games and/or not play some properly, e.g., distorted sound. If you're still looking for that elusive code, let me know and I'll look it up for you....although the command and conquer code itself will probably play the majority of games.

I've come accross a game that just refuses to load using the Passport v3+.

It's Cruisin World (piece of crap I know ) but I'm just keen to get it to work for some reason. I've tried all the regular codes including the C&C one but no joy. Am I right in thinking that this cart needs a very specific boot cartridge as well as the correct boot code?

                        Thanks.

I've found another game which just won't work on using the passport 3+.

PAL Body Harvest on a US N64 just throws up a message saying it's for PAL consoles only. This is very odd as Body Harvest will run on the same console using the original passport 1.

Am I not right in thinking that the passport 3 supposedly has 100% compatibility?
