    Strange bootup

    Hi,

    built my new PC and noticed when I plugged it to the mains the PC turned on without me having to press the power button. All connections seem fine, not sure what is wrong. Also, this evening when turning on my laptop, I have noticed a thin vertical green line down the side of my display, hope it isn't dead pixels

    It's the ACPI interface. I've set mine so I just have to tap space to turn it on. Check in the bios.

    Laptop == fuxxed though

      Hoping the laptop is fine tommorow :| The PC bootsup as soon as I plug it into the mains, without me touching a single key or button.

        It will be set to boot up when mains power is re-established. It's in the bios.
        It's mainly used for when there's a powerloss - the machine auto boots when power is restored.

        If this ISN'T what's happening though... you have wired something up wrong or have a broken component.

          Hi,

          it was indeed set in the bios, thanks chaps. While I am posting, I thought I would ask what DVD player you would recommend, as with WM player I need to download a decoder to play dvds

            PowerDVD is decent.
