    Saturn Arcade Sticks

Just been having a browse on Ebay and saw a few of the PAL Arcade sticks, are they any good or would the Japanese white arcade stick be a better buy?

    Cheers

I thought that stick was wack even back then. The buttons are awful, they are concave and nowhere near as responsive as the style used in the Japanese version. The stick is just rubbish, cheap rubbish.

The Japanese version is very similar in feel to a Dreamcast stick - the base is larger and it uses different components but it feels similar (ie - it's good)

The old sticks are dodgy rubbish, although the Arcade sticks are lush and should be reasonably cheap, they are also about ?12 if you go to Tokyo.

        Cheers Man,

I had a feeling that would be the case, Japanese one it is then. Why did it take until the Dreamcast to get a decent stick over here?

I'm trying to find as many Dreamcast sticks as possible on the cheap - that unit is like a blank canvas, a perfect setup to use on any machine. It's so easy to swap out the stick/switches with different components if required - there's room in there to house a controller PCB from another machine no problem.

I've converted Dreamcast sticks over to loads of machines now - they are still superb.

Now that's an idea, I was only looking at saturn sticks to use on my Xbox seeing as the Dreamcast one only works with 4 buttons. Is it possible to make a DC stick dual format? As I would still want to use it on the dreamcast.

I wouldnt like to do it - but it's possible. I prefer to mod one over for one machine.

ive started doing something like this.

Ive put a port on the back of the stick thats wired upto the neogeo pin out, ive then started making boxes (lots of wires atm, which consist of a ps2 pad pcb in a small box with a wire coming out) that i can just plug into that port, and plug the other cable into the console.

The Japanese white stick is by far the best one imo. Although the Hori SS is very good for shmups, but not all that for fighters. The white virtua stick (HSS-0136) is deffo the one to go for
