Modded PS2 & memory card issues?

Just about to get a modded PS2, any issues with saving US or JAP games to PAL memory cards a la Gamecube? Or is it just better to keep a seperate one anyway.

Yep no problems saving games, and i've copied them about between different cards with no pobs also. All offical cards though. Are modchips currently illegal in the UK still (one gets so confused with lawsuit after lawsuit) err.... thats what i've heard at least

Its illegal to sell them or offer them in any way in the UK

But im not sure if it'd be illegal to get them from another country to use for yourself. Its definitely not illegal to own them, at least i think not :/
