    PES3? What is it?

I keep hearing PES3 mentioned a lot... but no one actually says its non-abbrieviated name. What does it stand for exactly, and what type of game is it?

Pro-Evolution Soccer 3, by Konami available on the PS2.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3. It is apparantly the best football game out there but after prolonged play I think it has more irritating faults than FIFA and possibly the most moronic goalkeepers since International Superstar Soccer 2.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3. It's a football( or soccer as some folks call it) game made by Konami. It's also the european version of Konami's Winning Eleven series. I've never played the Winning Eleven games myself, but I've bought and played all the PES games on the PS2. I've heard the PES games are inferior to the WE games. In the end though they are IMO the best footie games out there

            A soccer game? How disappointing...

So WE is the same thing as PES?

LOL, I was considering getting it, since I've heard so much about it. It's always listed under the recommended games by forumers here, and I've trusted the judgment of people here concerning other recommended games. Burnout, Ico, Ikaruga, psyvariar, are games I would never have tried out if not for people here, and I liked them.

Soccer isn't for me though, so I guess I'll have to give it a miss.

Many people who don't like football like the Winning Eleven/Pro Evo series, At least try it out as it really is a genre defining game series and one of the best examples of a fun multiplayer game.

Ok, there appears to be quite a few versions of Winning Eleven... There is WE7, WE7 International, WE7 International Euro Edition, WE8 (Jap)... What's the difference between all these WE7's? Which version is the definitive one? Or should I just wait for WE8 to release in english?

I don't like it when a game gets a million releases under slightly different names.

                        There's only 3 versions of WE7

                        WE7 - JPN
                        WE7 - KOR
                        WE7 International - JPN

WE7 (korean is more akin to Pro Evo 3)
WE7 International - Has some elements of PES3 and some other elements.

As for which is the best, i've no idea.
                        But i prefer the original WE7 over WE7: I

As for WE7 International Euro Edition, i have no idea what you mean...

It's a real shame this argument falls on its arse before it's gotten anywhere. Yes, it is a football game, but when the developers call it Pro Evolution SOCCER there's really no legs to stand on :\
