I played it for about six months solid a good year ago...
Had a nice high level thief. I was only one job level away from assassin before I packed it in.
    Basically, I got horribly bored.
There are a grand total of two things to do in the game:
    1. Kill cute monters.
    2. Collect cool hats.

Edit: Though I do understand that they've added a lot since then...
Basically, though, if you're going to throw your time away, there are better places to do it (FFXI for example)

Agreed. I soloed to 30 something in a single day and just got bored of the click gameplay. The economy back then was pretty awful too, as was the lag. I'm sure they've fixed all that now but I see no reason in getting into RO when you can get FFXI, or soon WoW.

I have a friend who still plays it, and apparently the economy and the lag are just as bad.
He actually moved to a private server recently, the "intrestingly" named negRO.

Played through open betas 1+2, then gave it a rest for a good while, and went back to private servers. I'd been in the RO community for for a good few years, hanging out in IRC channels etc. I remember still being in school revising and studying for exams when i started playing it, kind of ate into study time. Was good fun until about a few months ago. I deleted it from my computer for GOOD, cos I just decided I'd had enough of it.

RO is a good game, but there's just nothing else to do other than lvl your characters and collect hats, as was said. RO Beta was my first experience of a MMORPG to be honest, and it was a good place to start. If you ever run into the Prontera Parish (if they're still around), I knew most of those guys. They used to hold the Alberta Festival every few months, which was cool.

Someday I might pick RO up again and play some private servers, but I don't know when. PSO's private server (which i've been playing recently) has just been a whole lot more fun.
