    Cooling quicky

Just a quick question about cooling.

I'd like to make my server run a little cooler, so are these:

    Any good/quiet?

Quiet? Not really. Any extra fan is noise innit.
Unless of course you know the dB is less than your current output.

Good? Debatable. Depends on the airflow in your case. A good flow path is preferable to just more fans.

I'm probably telling you what you already know but I wouldn't bother. Maybe isolate the main cause of the heat and work on that instead of adding one of these.

Thanks for the advise Yash, it looked noisy!

I think the main problem is its an oem case (hp) and it was probably never intended for addition scsi cards and Dat drives. Its a strange beast with only the PSU fan which cools processor and case. It does run warm, but recently my dat drives has started to give up and i'm thinking the heat. I've attached a pic of a another pc i've got with the same case (slighty different MB and CPU but the layout is the same), only difference is the missing plastic housing around the CPU.

I think i may try a small fan next to the PSU, cant complain too much though the PC didn't cost anything!
