I've played the beta and it looks very interesting - a bit of a cross between a squad based strategy game and a normal RTS. The Orks probably play the closest to a normal RTS. The other races have much smaller but more powerful armies

Its definitely looking promising but they still had a bit to do judging from the beta.

Aye i've got the beta as well, and it is good. But as said, it does need some balancing sorting out...the perfect balance is not quite there yet.

The beta is fun, with that metallic, thunderous clunk that accompanies the skyfall of machinery. Graphics are detailed and the zoomable view lets you adore the action close-up if you like, which has been done well.

It certainly captures the atmosphere of the 40k universe, but let's wait for the final build to see how wholesome an experience it will be. And for races, I hope they'll include the Sisters from the start and don't let me wait for their appearance until some addon surfaces.

Mine arrived yesterday. Bought from Play for the princely sum of ?17.99. For some reason my PC was unhappy with the 32 bit colour settings and refused to produce the text in a readable form. Had to resort to 16 bit colour at 1280X1024, with all settings on High.

Played the Tutorial which was enjoyable. It leaves you to clear the map of the enemy when you have finished the basics. You get to play Space Marines. Took three "Predator" heavy tanks and a "Terminator" Squad to dispose of them. Spent about 90 minutes with the game and so far it looks good. Can be a little tricky selecting single units when there are a squad or two in close proximity.

yeah ive got the full version now as well, really good voice acting in the story, on mission 7 or 8 i think, i'd give it 8-9/10 so far.

most units seem balanced although im gonna play multiplayer 2 day and see what my house mates think of it.

For those who have it, is it moddable ? (ie:- is there any hope of someone creating a mod to let you play different races )

The campaign is only Space Marines? Skirmish and Multiplayer is all 4 races? (Eldar, Orks, Space Marines, Chaos Marines)

And there is a few mods floating about from what i've heard, such as the Tau and Tyrannids

Yeah the campaign is the only part of the game that doesn't allow you to play as other races, you can only play as the space marines. You can play skirmishes against the computer using any race(which is basically campaign gameplay except you don't have the cut scenes at the start or end of the battle).

The demo only let's you play space marines and you can't try out all the units(like terminators, land raiders etc..) but there is a mod that allows you to play as orks in the demo and try out all the units. I'm currently hosting it on my uni web space so I can link to it, if you want.
