RGB Scart for N64 - Gamecube Version Do?

    Hi everyone

Having found my old snes on top of my warddrobe ive set about setting it up, however, i note that i now have three arial style connectors going into my TV, and only have a double arial connector style thing!

To solve this, i was hoping to get a scart cable for my N64, as this would allow the snes to be plugged into my TV through the arial.

Looking on ebay, and looking at the back of both snes and N64 it seems they have the same standard "multi out" port that the gamecube has.

Thus, would the official gamecube RGB Scart cable work with the N64 or even the Snes for that matter?

    Regards,

    Gav

no, it won't do rgb but i think it will produce a crappy picture regardless.

Ahh right, so whilst it cant do RGB, ill still be able to get the "quality" of the standard RF lead? Thats all i need really, and if it doesnt do proper RGB ill get a cheap Scart Gamecube Cable which should do what i need it to (i.e. free up an arial connector)

Do you eyes a favour and forget RF connections, if you list what consoles you have inc region, and what TV connections you have got and peeps will be able to help you out.

Pal N64 cannot do RGB or S-Video so you are stuck with Composite, but the SNES can do RGB which i would get a scart cable for if i was you. (theres always some on ebay)

Really confused now. I posted in the wanted section a need for a scart lead for a newly acquired N64 as the RGB I have doesn't connect to my TV.
The old N64 I had used to be connected via a scart lead - looking on the play-asia web site they don't do a sctraight scart.

            Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....anyone know of one ?

There are scart cables, they just output composite, i think you could use a snes scart cable (aslong as you get one thats wired for both RGB and composite)

Or is your N64 a modded NTSC model thats been converted to RGB?

                This is one confusing thread

To clarify, the PAL Gamecube RGB SCART lead is the same as an NTSC SFC/N64 SCART lead. You'll never get RGB out of a PAL N64, but you can use a SCART one for composite (if you so desire).

As said above, tell us exactly what you own and we'll take it from there. In the meantime, please read this.

i thought the pinout of the cable was slightly different for the PAL GC (im probably wrong as ive never used a pal gc)

I don't *think* so. Well, put it this way, I know for definite that a PAL GC RGB SCART lead works on a Jpn SFC without modification, as that's what I use. Also, I know you can remove the caps from said lead and use it for RGB on a PAL SNES, as I did this mod for a mate (I have the notes on the mod at home, if anyone needs them).

I was pretty sure it was the same law for the N64, except that I know you can't get RGB out of a PAL N64.

                      wow thanks everyone

I hadnt received an email so i didnt think anyone had posted since i last replied.

Anyway, just to clear the confusion up, i own a PAL N64 (Dont Laugh )

Thus, if i buy any Gamecube Scart cable, it will work? albeit just in "composite" mode.

                      Regards

Probably, although if you're going to do that, I'd just put a 'Wanted' thread out asking for a Nintendo composite lead, as I'm sure someone would give you one for free (they come with all Nintendo machines, and practically no-one on here will be using them, I promise you!).

                          Cheers treble.

Just a quickie, i think ill be able to find a Gamecube Composite lead which i assume will work too? Otherwise ill post a wanted thread.

                          Regards

Yeah, it will. I meant to say above that most people with GCs won't bother with their composite leads. D'oh!
