    DVD-Writers + ReWriters - Suggestions please.

Hey, my girl is looking for the above. I saw what looked like a really good DVDRW in MicroMart 2 maybe 3 weeks ago, but I can't find a copy of it anywhere. IT was by a big company and they make a fuss about how the product is under priced - it is about ?75. If anyone has a copy and can find me the name of the product, that would be brilliant.

Failing that, could anyone suggest some good DVD-Writers and all that lark. It'll probably be used mainly to store Data like .mp3, .doc and .jpg files etc... I'm not sure whether she is wanting to make actual DVDs for viewing purposes, but the ability to do as much as possible for the most reasonable price (>?100) would be brilliant.

If you have any suggestions then that would be great. It appears that my knowledge of this format is severely lacking.

Also, if you know any good review sites on the internet for PC parts, I would really appreciate it if you could post them here because I can imagine it would save me posting similar threads in the future

    Thanks in advance.

Pioneer 108 Dual Layer (8.5GB On one DVD :P) 16x Write SPeed, Thats a whole 4.7gb dvd in 5 mins they are ?60 from http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/ <-awsome buy IMHO

{HA 4099} Pioneer DVR-108 16x DVD+/-R writer with 4x Double Layer DVDR writing compatibility and 32x CDR writing compatibility.

The release of the Pioneer 108 is a milestone in DVD writing.

The features of the drive will leave you full of anticipation.

While DVDR recording speeds have previously edged slowly up, the Pioneer 108 brings us a giant leap with a drive being capable of 16x DVD writing to both the DVD-R and DVD+R formats. It also is capable of writing to CDR at 32x. DVDRW and CDRW writing is naturally also supported.

Compatibility with 8.5GB Double Layer media is included. This is the first Pioneer DVD writer that can write to Dual Layer media.

Pioneer have added a number of new technologies to this new drive to make it write with greater accuracy and precision giving our customers the highest possible success rate in writing DVDR discs. The drive has been designed to cope better with media which may be slightly warped or unbalanced so whether you are writing at 2x or 16x you are less likely to run into any problems.

Until such time as 16x media is available (expected October 2004) Pioneer tell us that16x write speeds can be achieved on selected 8x speed DVD-R/+R media. We are awaiting their advice on this matter. All of our current range of DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW and CDR/RW media should function perfectly with this DVD writer.

4x Double Layer media is not expected to be available until January 2005. Until then Pioneer tell us that 4x write speeds can be achieved on selected +R 2.4x Double Layer media. We are awaiting their advice on this matter.

This item is sold as a bare drive. No cables, installation screws or software is included.

I'd recommend the 108 as well, but also consider an NEC 2510 Dual Layer DVDRW, ?47 from scan - slower, but a good bit cheaper, and you could probably get it for less than that elsewhere, but I can't be bothered looking for you.

The NEC ND-2500A is the DVD writer God himself would use.

Saying that -- holy ****, dual layer burners are cheap.

Ha. I've got a 2500A, but about 4 weeks after I got it at what I thought was a bargain, the 2510 came out for the same damn price. They see me coming, honestly.
