You can get PCs in damn near any size you could ever want - including smaller than that (eg Tablet PCs) - unfortunately they never look quite as good as Apple's. Still I hope this isn't the future of PCs as I can't imagine being able to open that up if there were problems or being able to upgrade them. Doesn't mean I don't think it has a use, I just don't want PCs turning out like them.

EDIT: I just noticed it uses an NVidia 5200 too so it can't be good

Whats their dead pixel returns policy like - it would be a pain in the arse for both you and them I would imagine - can they just swap out the screen or is the the thing so packed that they just have replace and recycle?

Personally I prefer the last iMac, the one with the bendy neck and oval base. The G5 looks good but I always thought the iMac range was supposed to be a little bit more fun looking, leave all the serious, industrial look to the Power Mac cases.

Still, it should mean the old G4 iMacs will be cheaper, might be time to upgrade my original G3 iMac if they do go cheap.

                  If I didn't play games, I'd probably get a Mac. But I do, so I won't.

I was very disappointed by this.
The last iMac was a complete suprise, and really had such a unique design.
This just looks like a big iPod...

I doubt they can just swap out the screen, but the hard drive and memory are standard components on it - there's a picture with the back off floating around the net. So switching all your data to the new model is really, really simple.

I love the look of it (though anyone not spending the extra ?60 or so for the version with wireless bluetooth keyboard and mouse is going to regret it), and if I were buying a new machine right now it would probably be either one of these or an iBook. Any second machine would be for office stuff, websurfing and general geekery, so the 5200 isn't really an issue for me.

I thought that, but despite the fact that the G5 is going to walk all over it performance-wise, the Apple Store's remaining ones have hardly dropped at all. I think your only chance of a cheap one is a second-hand job.

                          It's not the greatest...

Don't even bother unless you've got 3 or so...

A good way of getting around it is by going into an Apple shop and seeing it running before you pay.

program on 5 a month or so ago where it was comparing a topend pc to a topend mac .... surprisingly the pc outperformed the mac in regards to 'mac-heavy' applications, such as photoshop etc, and it totally outclassed the mac in gaming terms (latest unreal was used, double framerate was available on pc than mac)

but the biggest test was (as they termed it) the crash ...... they took both machines to the first floor balacony and lobbed them off .... both machines cases (as you may expect) where damaged beyond repair but the pc did power-on (didn't bootup though) - a quick change of mobo and the pc was running perfectly (cost ?70-ish) - now the mac ...... they tried to buy spare parts and where told it was impossible to buy mac parts from anywhere except an authorised dealer and the cost for a mobo was 3-400 quid (with a 14 day waiting period) ... the work had to be carried out by an authorised repairer at a further cost of 50-100 quid per hour ... all adds up doesn't it

anyways back on topic - beautiful looking machine, if only it was in my price range

So, the thing to remember is, don't buy a Mac if you plan on dropping it from several metres up?

By the way, that 'repaired' PC was tested for all of seconds before saying it works. I really doubt it.
