Dreamcast problem

Hey all,

One of my Dreamcast machine's is playing up. First of all it was an intermittent problem, but now it does it all the time.

Basically it will not load games. It just hangs at the boot up screen...the one where you can change the time etc etc.

Any ideas? I was told to disconnect and reconnect one of the ribbon cables inside the machine. That is a supposed cure to my problem. If that don't work is it foxored, or can I replace something to bring it back to life?

There seem to be two big DC problems, and this doesn't sound like either of them

If the machine resets randomly then cleaning the contacts between the psu and system pcbs tends to fix it (done that with both of mine, and it works).

If controllers are playing up then either the controller pcb or its fuse needs replacing.

The problem with yours sounds more like an iffy gd rom assembly. You can get replacements, but it would probably be easier and only slightly more expensive to buy a new machine...
