    Xbox resolution questions

Could someone answer the following please,

    1. On a pal xbox via component, what resolution does it output?
    480i or 575i.

    2. Which cable has the better resolution?
component or scart via pal xbox.

    3. Does the hi-def component cable and the official scart have optical out's?

Apologies if this has been asked a hundred times but I couldn't find anything on the search function.

    Thanks in advance,

    Colin.

I don't have definitive answers, but I think I can provide theoretical ones...

    1. On a pal xbox via component, what resolution does it output?
    480i or 575i.
This should depend on whether you have the video mode set to PAL or PAL60. PAL should be 576i, and PAL60 should be 480i.

    2. Which cable has the better resolution?
component or scart via pal xbox.
They should be the same resolution, since PAL xbox doesn't support any HD modes. Component comes with the HD pack, which I'm not sure is even for sale in PAL territories, since PAL xbox doesn't officially do HD.

No idea about the third question.

I think Hi Def kit will have it, but I never use one. For PAL you need Advanced Scart cable as it got opitcial out socket. (You still need to buy a cable to link it up)

or you could use this http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/...uctCode=XB0198

I was pretty sure about the resolution being 525i without chipping and will get the official scart lead.

          Thank's.

            525i = 480i

This is the PAL60 / NTSC resolution. It is also 60hz. This is not the standard res used in PAL territories, so there's no way they would make this the standard official resolution for an Xbox.

Set the video mode to PAL on the dashboard and it will run in 576i (also known as 625i). This is actually what it should be set to by default unless you've changed it.

Trust me. You don't need to chip it to get that res, it is the standard PAL res. My friend (as dumb as he is) plays on that res, since his TV doesn't support 60hz. And his Xbox is not chipped.

Thank's for the info, I think I'll go with the advanced scart and optical as I've only 1 set of component input's on the tv and the dvd use's them.
