    Photshop + Calander Program

Wondered if someone could explain how you extract a backdrop from an image. For example, if you look the attachment, I want rid of the button and outer ring and have just the backdrop. But I want the backdrop to fill in behind the button if u know what I mean?

You want photoshop to extropolate on what could be hidden behind the stuff you're wanting to remove by cutting? I've done my fair bit of photoshopping, but I'm not expert, I'd suggest that what you're wanting is reasonably impossible.

In this particular example you posted, it would be decidedly easier just to create a gradiant filled background. Imagine Photoshop trying to work out the background from a photo of people in front of the Eifel Tower?

In Paint Shop Pro you can use the "clone" function to clone other bits of the picture.

Alternatively you could jsut take the first few lines of the image, and just repeat them all the way down as all you want is a colour gradiant.. which is independant of the vertical position (i.e the gradiant goes across horizontally).

All the information you need for the pic is contained in the first horizontal line of the image...

Aye, you could do it via copying and pasting sections (cloning), but this only works if the background is reasonably consistant, or near as. That's about as close as you'll get though, there's not function to automatically "regenerate" the background (which is what I thought you were after), it's a manual thing. A bit of smudging or bluring can help. It can be a long painstaking process on a very busy background.

Clone then heal to cover your tracks.

When you start uncovering what you can do with layering is when you really find out how powerful Photoshop is. Head over to B3ta to see some fine examples.

Having just headed over to B3ta, it would seem fine examples are no where near as prevalent as when I use to post on it. Popularity, it would seem, has diluted the genius. Still worth a look though.

Also, I need some sort of program where I can have a calander that shows current availablity, like you do when booking a hotel. I have to be able to update it manually and it needs to look good.
