Recommend me a Firewall

I havnt got a linux box at home atm, so im having to use ICS to allow my xbox access to the internet.

Someone mentioned to me that ICS and firewalls dont mix to well? So can anyone recommend me one thats works well?

Or am i better off with a proxy and a firewall

Kerio do a good, free one. A lot of people like Zone Alarm but I just didn't get on with its interface tbh. Black Ice was also rated highly.

ICS isn't the best, so to solve that and the firewall issue, its worth going for a router if you can afford it.

The standard free 'no thrills' Zone Alarm, is probably the easiest way to go if you want to keep things both simple And secure. The only drawback would be it's popularity, some virii may target it more than say an unknown program, but
then unknowns aren't unknown without reason either.

Kerio is by far the best free one.. Zone alarm is full of holes..

it didnt want to let ICS through, but it was the weekend and i turn my I.T part of the brain off, (well i wanted to play outrun 2 )

Assuming your an IT guy you should know your ports from your elbow.

As long as you have a basic understanding of tcp/ip etc Kerio is great. It's usually a bit too much hassle for peeps who aren't prepared to do a little learning.

i used to setup VPN,VOIP etc networks so i think i can figure out Kerio at a push

I just asked as i wanted something on double quick so i could play outrun my brain went to **** when i thought i could be playing outrun online

Aha, but not with the new version of Kerio which is for complete amateurs. Get Kerio 2.1.5, it's totally customisable and it pwns.
