    Alternatives to Word

    Recently had to format someones hd. Lost all the programs etc including Word which is basically all she uses the pc for. (pc didnt come with a backup disc so...) does anyone have a good alternative word processing package to recommend? preferably freeware, and something that recognises Word files.
