psx imports on a messiahed ps2

need info to a number of questions

    1. why won't my ps2 switch into psx mode all the bloody time - its a messiah 1 on a 3000 series ps2 - i do the press reset twice trick and it sometimes works but mostly doesnt

    2. is it better to have standard disk speed + graphics or should i switch to fast speed and smoothed graphics -- and how can i save it when i switch

    3. what games are incompatible?

Not sure if you have tried this, but you have to press the reset button twice very quickly, don't wait at all, just press reset and then do it again straight away. I've only got about 10 PS games but all of them load first time everytime i've used this method.

1.mine does that, u found i have to press the reset button twice, quickly after i've put the game in.

      2. i've just left them as they are as some games dont work properly with it on.

      3. games that have anti mod protection seem to have problem and detect the messiah chip. i think dino crisis is one of them. i haven't tried any myself so i might not be correct.

"Arcade Party Pak" (features Super Sprint, Toobin', Rampage, Smash TV, Klax, & 720), doesn't work properly either ft:

Depends on the game. Some games look better and run faster with those options enabled. Some just screw up and take ages to load.

Sony dont let you can't save these options permanently because of the above reason.

with some models its better to hold down the reset button rather than double tap, try it.

I have a Messiah 1 chip on my PS2 - I don't bother with the pressing reset things - all my Jap PS1/PS2 games just load straight up when I power up

                Just to clear this up:

Messiah 1 - double tap method
Messiah 2 - hold until eject light activates method.

It's not a case of trying one or the other, the BIOS is what determines the method needed.

I find that the disk speed/texture filter selection ruins the look of most games I've tried. R4 for example: the graphics corrupt on most stages when the disk speed is increased. If you want to change settings - just switch your machine to PS1 mode, change settings, then insert disk.

i'm not gonna argue with you as everone knows that you know your stuff, but i've had 5 consoles (of different versions) all installed with messiah 1's (of the same batch and bios) and had success with one method or the other depending on version.
