Modded Xbox + Xbox Live, advice needed

I have 2 xboxes, 1 modded, 1 regular pal.
Pal is used at work for XBL.
Modded at home for mame etc. I've now got Broadband at home, but don't really want 2 xboxes in the house.
If I turn my modchip off, will this ensure I don't get banned? Obviously, I'll only be playing legitimate games.
Any advice is appreciated.

It should be fine. It's just a case of remembering to switch it off and turn off the auto log-in in the dash options.

There's a bios around that says makes the xbox think the cables are unplugged if you try and go online with the switch on aswell. I'd get hold of that too.
