    XBOX Live

I have decided to get an XBOX live connection, however my PC is on all the time as is my broadband. I have an external USB modem on the PC. Now I have heard I can connect my XBOX to the LAN port and configure ICS in windows XP. That is all good, but my PC is nowhere near a big TV, meaning I will have to use my TFT on my PC. Are there any decent cables available to connect to my TFT?

I may be misunderstanding what you're wanting to do but I'll give you my 2p.

Basically you want to play Xbox live through your TV via ICS, right?
Well all you'd do is turn your computer on and start ICS. The Xbox and PC would be connected by ethernet, thus enabling broadband on your Xbox played through your TV.
Your PC will always need to be on to share the connection and obviously near to the PC. However I think you'd be able to turn a screen saver on to stop screen burn.
You will be able to browse the internet and play online, however speed will be hit by doing this.
I can't give you specifics for a PC as I'm on a mac but this is how I connect to live through an ICS equivilant on my mac.

      hey man no tft's required!

although i don't get your question. if you're using a tft, then you've obviously got the required cables to hook it up to your pc!

here's the best method i think:

set up ics on the pc. i doubt you need the xbox connected at the time though

anyway, enable it and then turn off your pc. reconnect your pc near your xbox, and connect the network (ethernet) cable to the xbox. turn on the pc, while leaving the xbox off.
when you think windows xp has booted (wait for the hard drive to stop grinding or whatever, or you can time it while your monitor is plugged in. it's up to you) turn on the xbox. the reason for this is that the xbox needs to get it's ip address from the pc, so ics has to be running before it can do this.

there's one problem though and that's the usb modem - it needs to dial in to the internet before you can play online obviously. there's an option in the ics advanced settings to connect to the internet whenever a pc on the network requires the internet, so enable this and see if it works.

ideally, you'd want to bring the pc, keyboard and monitor to the xbox/tv and make sure everything can run without you needing to be there, then you can ignore the keyboard and tft (make sure your bios is set to halt on no errors or else it'll pause at bootup as there's no keyboard present)

lmk how it goes and if you need more info. good luck!

thanks for info guys, much appreciated. The problem is my TV is in another room to my PC, and I can't have cables trailing around Is there a way I can connect my XBOX to my TFT display?

VGA cables do this. I couldn't begin to advise a specific cable as I have no experience with them. I'm sure somebody can help though, this may be a good start: http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread...light=xbox+vga

oh lol. now i see what you mean

just get a vga box like bowser said. quality's not up to much though, as it's taking the standard signal and converting it so you lose clarity. i think the best way of describing it would be that it's a bit worse than running a dvd film on your pc in fullscreen (although i kinda like dvd's on monitors - they look ace!). more like a divx or something like that

the link bowser posted is cool, but the vga cable mentioned appears to be specifically for games that allow high-definition (hdtv, 1080i etc that kinda lingo) and since hdtv's aren't really around here, uk pal games don't support them afaik. you'd need us versions of your games, and these connect to us servers so you'll get a lot of lag. if your xbox is chipped, you can convert it to us mode and then turn off the chip and it'll work on live but you'll have the lag problem
