    Evil Genius

I just downloaded and played through the demo of Evil genius. In case you haven't heard of it (but you probably have) its by Elixir studios, an off shoot of Lionhead studios (aka old bullfrog ) and its a game where you play a james bond style super villain and build bases, hire goons, torture spies etc.

When I was playing it all I could think of was Dungeon Keeper. It is unbelievably similar to that game, right down to how you create rooms. Theres very little in the demo to suggest this has anything new to offer over Dungeon keeper. In fact its missing some of the best elements of Dungeon Keeper like the spells or possesing your minions and looking at your base from the inside. You simply build some rooms, then click on any enemys that come in and click kill, then sit and watch. I'll probably still get the game though, because I think this is just a shoddy, rushed out demo, plus I actually quite liked Republic, elixirs other game.

It looks quite good, plus edge gave it 7 i believe. Its out tomorrow and can be bought from play.com for the rather reasonable price of 17.99 ! anyone got it yet?

I played the demo and was very unimpressed. While it is similar in style to DK,
i think its far worse than DK. Your minions seem ultra stupid and you don't have a feeling of control (it may not have helped that I found the whole interface unintuitive and struggled to work out how to do some of the stuff like interrogating enemies). You can't even design your own evil genius - you have to choose from a list. You can't "possess" your guys like in DK either which would have given the game a much needed sense of control and depth. If only they'ed remake DK with Evil Geniuses graphics but leave everything else alone.
