I just downloaded and played through the demo of Evil genius. In case you haven't heard of it (but you probably have) its by Elixir studios, an off shoot of Lionhead studios (aka old bullfrog
) and its a game where you play a james bond style super villain and build bases, hire goons, torture spies etc.
When I was playing it all I could think of was Dungeon Keeper. It is unbelievably similar to that game, right down to how you create rooms. Theres very little in the demo to suggest this has anything new to offer over Dungeon keeper. In fact its missing some of the best elements of Dungeon Keeper like the spells or possesing your minions and looking at your base from the inside. You simply build some rooms, then click on any enemys that come in and click kill, then sit and watch. I'll probably still get the game though, because I think this is just a shoddy, rushed out demo, plus I actually quite liked Republic, elixirs other game.
