    Lightning ate my x box

Recent electrical storms fried my Broadband modem/router as well as my network adapter in my PC.
It would also appear that the Network adaptor in my X Box bit the dust at the same strike as I am unable to connect to the Live service anymore.
Any suggestions? Is it worth getting repaired and if so anyone know someone up to the job?

The network card is integrated so is more difficult to fix and probably diagnose. Its likely a buffer chip has blown on board but getting someone to strip the brick and mess around with surface mounted devices would cost a bit. As there new for ?99 its probably better getting another.

I can't believe I'm reading this topic - the exact same thing happened to me during a storm last year, but the only victim was my Xbox network card. As I really can't afford to get a new one, I've resigned myself to single player XBoxness

you could prolly sell the xbox to someone who isnt bothered about online for ?50, its halfway towards a new one.

Can't you claim on your insurance? My friend has just replaced their TV and surround amp after both when bang (the amp was a spectacular mess inside!) in a recent storm, and the insurance people were very reasonable to deal with.

Admittedly there was a ?60 excess on the policy, which if the only thing blown up is your XBox's network adaptor, its less worth your bother.
