Region Free dvd drives for pc's?

I'm going to uni soon but I had a think and its a bit crazy lugging my pc and tv and dvd player all the way up to there. I figured I'd get a dvd drive for my pc then I'd be able to watch movies on my pc. But dvd drives are a bit weird region-wise. You can set the region you want but you only get a limited amount of time to do that, don't you? Anyway, I was wondering if there was a region free dvd player for pcs or if there was a program or code or something to make dvd drives region free. Thanks!

AnyDVD should do what you're looking for. Most drives can be Firmware patched too.

Seconded for DVD Region+CSS Free, I did a firmware flash on my drive back when you absolutely needed to, but I don't think that's necessary anymore. You can just use that program.

Being that you wont be bringing an actual telly up, you won't have to have phat arguments with the TV License chaps. I can just see it now when I get there .. "No, I only use it for games and checking colours in video editing software." "I'll see you in court."

Speaking of which, it'd be nice if they manufactured TVs, VCRs, DVD recorders and TV cards, with removable tuners. That way you could demonstrate them being incapable of picking up UK TV broadcasts when the TV licensing gestapo were touring the area.
