wanna use another headset with live

got the headset's usb dongle on its own for free. i hate the live headset so wanna make my own.

the connector is 2.5mm and the live headset's jack is a standard 2.5mm stereo jack. anyone know how i could find out how i'd wire up my own speaker/mic to it? can't find anything on the internet except how to split it to two headsets which doesn't really help

any info would be appreciated

i've got a nokia handsfree with a 2.5mm jack but i doubt it'd work as it has three rings (stereo earphones and mic). i had a single-earphone handsfree but can't find that now

There are a few new (third party) headsets coming out. Maybe pick up one of those instead. The Halo 2 edition from Plantronics looks nifty.

If i remember correctly the tip is is headphone, the middle is mic and the long outer part of the jack is Ground.

at least with a nokia handsfree you can pretend to the normal people that you're just on the phone

Just got one of these Plantronics ones, it's actually very nice. Really light, and comes wit h 4 different in-ear pieces to choose from. Takes a bit of getting used to but it's 10 times better than the one you get with Live.
