Xbox Live ICS Problem (Yes the DNS one again)

I've done a search, found the thread, but still, its no use to me!

I've tried hooking up my new xbox to my pc, however i'm having problems doing so. I've looked around the net, but everyone seems to say the same things, do X, do X, voila done. Not quite so perfect in real life though is it

On the Connect Status in the dashboard, i get up to the DNS part of the connection attempt. It then fails, saying the DNS could not be resolved.

I've tried everything from faffing about with my pc, to changing ip numbers, gateway numbers, as well as setting DNS to manual (with Pipex's DNS numbers) and automatic, and still no joy. I've also tried setting the MAC address, and bridging my network connections. Still no joy again

So i'm currently sat here like a muppet, wondering why it wont work. I'm hoping someone has had this problem before me, and knows how to resolve it

This is how I did it on my Apple mac, using a usb modem:

Open the system prefs, Networking pane, and select "create a new configuration". Call it "XBox ICS", or whatever. Select it.

Now, go to the Ethernet configuration screen. In "IPv4 configuration", select "Manually". Then, input the following:
    IP Address: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Apply the changes, wait a few seconds, restart Internet Sharing and boot up your XBox. It should work.

If it still doesn't, you need to configure your XBox's IP address manually. Input the following:
    IP Address: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (the address you assigned to your Mac)

Get your DNS numbers and manually put them in to your xbox

      It's alright its done.

The most stupidest thing ever, had to share a "dial up connection" to users on a network, instead of the usual sharing internet access with network

Soon as did that, the ****er worked

      GURR!!

            Hello.

I?m sorry to post it all of sudden, but i?m having the same problem. The "DNS not resolved" message shows up, even though the DNSs on PC and XBOX matches.

May you help me ? I see you managed to somehow make it works ...

I had to set the net access through the modem, rather than through the modem.

And my firewall has to be on allow all, else it refuses to go through
