Green tinged RGB on Xbox (Play Peripherals cable)

I've previously bought an RGB cable from Ebay, and it turned up and displayed a green tinged picture on my TV. And my TV definitely supports RGB etc. I have a modded Xbox btw.

Another one I bought had a green tinge only on the dashboard selection screen (i.e. where I chose whether to load up the Microsoft dash, evox, avalaunch etc) and I had a great RGB picture for everything else.

Anyway I bought a Joytech RGB cable from Amazon from a marketplace seller for my brother's unmodded Xbox, and turns out the bastard sent me a **** Play Peripherals RGB cable, no doubt bought for 20p, I've just sent him a very pissed off email. It just displays a really green picture just like the one I bought before, and is useless.

I'm going to get him to send the *actual* cable I ordered, though he probably doesn't stock them and just sends these shoddy ones to people who don't know better, but want to check it's just not me who's being stupid. The TV in question does support RGB, and worked in great RGB with my own cable, should I just change a setting or something to get rid of this green tinge?

Are all the "Play Peripherals" RGB cables just **** and don't work?

A 'tinge' from an RGB cable, in my experience, is usually because either the R, G or B cable is shorting causing the picture to be made up of only 2 of the required 3 colours. If this isn't the problem then I have no idea sorry.
