    Broken Laptop

I have tripped over my power lead and now the laptop has hit the kitchen floor and smashed.
It cost me ?1800 in 2002 its a Dell 8200. The damage is as follows.
Cracked display, cracked lid, the battery wont come out as caseing bent and cracked. Unable to access usb sockets as metal casing bent. It powers up but you can't see alot because of display I think the cd drive is knackered as well.
My question is would my insurance company be likely to repair this or replace it?

Its pretty old (in computer terms) so I doubt you'll get it repaired. You can buy my laptop though if you want as I'm trying to sell it atm - PM me for spec/price

Should be covered by home contents insurance, but you better check your policy. unless it's under warranty of course, in which case you could just have it replaced.

surely "just" a repair is better than spending say ?700+ on another one ?

Well for all the parts to repair you are looking at ?500+ so I thought the insurance co would prob replace it.

maybe, depends how much they would give you to spend on a new one though as to wether it's worth it.

My dodgy mate bought one off ebay for ?50, dropped in downstairs on purpose and claimed on the insurance and got a laptop worth ?1200!
