i understand the whole 50/60hz thing has been discussed to death with the megadrive, but all these discussions tend to be about converting a pal machine to 60hz.
i just picked up a japanese megadrive and upon testing it, it appears to be running at 50hz. now, i know it's not one of the hong kong pal versions as those ones have PAL-1 written on the label on the bottom, and this one has the same label as my own untouched 60hz japanese megadrive.
upon opening both systems up and comparing it seems that they both have the same board revision, except someone has added an rf modulator which is wired to the underside of the board at various points and sits at the side of the board, with the cable running out that small hole in the back that all megadrives have.
so, i guess my question is, is it possible to internally mod an original jpn megadrive to output pal at 50hz? i can't test what rf signal is coming from the modulator as the coaxial connector has been ripped off the wire. also, if it IS possible, how do i change it back to 60hz ntsc? what should i be looking for on the board?
sorry to ramble on, any thoughts appreciated.
