wiring a SNES pad for use on the GC?

just wanting to know, is there any way to wire up a snes pad with a GC plug to make it work with the GC? coz i need a decent pad for all the fighting games i own, even the hori pad still has the stupid button layout of the normal GC pad ft:

    cheers

Gamelife! You get that sorted and you have found the Holy Grail mate.

Your life would change over night.

I have no idea, and am pretty sure it hasnt been managed yet as there would be mention of it by now. Believe me, I'd know about it s I have been wanting a Snes pad converter forever.

Problem is, you'd need to house the PCB from a GC pad somewhere, and that ain't gonna fit in the SNES pad, so it'll be really messy. I've converted a couple of DC arcade sticks for use on the GC and one for the Xbox, with the headset port intact. If you want advice on that, let me know, but I can't realy see the pad idea working unless you want to chain pads.

Unless of course the new pad thats looks like a snes pad but has the stupid button layout is the same size or near the same size and you were willing to rip it to pieces.....................

Good thinking Batman. Depends on the D pad though too, whether the SNES and hori pad would line up perfectly etc.

Worth a try if they arent too expensive. Have to do a little looking around i suppose

Actually it wouldn't work at all because of the button layout on the hori pcb. the snes buttons just wouldn't line up at all so when you press them it wouldn't make contact. You couldn't fit 2 PCBs in the SNES pad, so it would work.

I'd just like to point out that Adrock is indeed my little bother and I am in no way being unreasonable or unjustly rude to someone that I've never met.

I would have thought that the button's on the SNES pad would be self-contained and would be connected to the SNES PCB via a wire, with the PCB recieving signals from the buttons and sending them to the SNES.

So I would replace the SNES PCB with a GC PCB and wire the buttons to that instead. Or if it was too big, just buy a little box or something and put the GC PCB in that.

You could always use the Hori PCB. You'd just need to take out the PCB and put it into the SNES pad, wiring the SNES buttons to replace their GC counterparts. Try http://www.arcadecontrols.com for more information.

That wouldn't work either I don't think. It's all to do with the button placement, see? Both the Hori GC pad and the SNES pad use contact pads for the d-pad and buttons. If you were to use either pcb in either controller, the action buttons would not match up, simple as that. I don't know about the Hori pad, but the SNES pads deffinately have one pcb to cover the d-pad and action buttons.

Back to the drawing board methinks.

Ah right, the contacts are wired directly to the PCB, is it? I assumed it would be like the PS2 pads and such, where the seperate components are wired to a small PCB in the middle.

thats what ive been thinking also, buy a hori GC pad and then convert the button layout somehow to match the SNES?

im sure this could be done with a bit of expert know-how and a little effort???

anyway, what about getting an x-box pad to work on the GC? i just want any decent pad to play my fighting games but i dont want to buy an arcade stick
